In 2023, applicants submitted 32 patent applications, 39 applications for registration of utility models and 31 applications for supplementary protection of medical products and plant protection products to the Patent Office. Estonian applicants submitted 24 patent applications and 36 applications for registration of utility models. International patent applications for forwarding to WIPO were not received this year from Estonian applicants.
We issued 13 patents, including 12 to Estonian patent proprietors and registered 32 utility models, 24 of them to Estonians.
938 applications for the enforcement of a European patent were submitted and 876 were enforced.
In 2023, the applicants filed 1,181 applications for registration of trade marks and 728 international registrations of trade marks were received, in which Estonia is a contracting party. Estonians owned 1018 and 2 of them, respectively. We entered 1005 national trade marks ino the register last year and enforced 946 international registrations.
At the end of the year, there were 51,338 valid trade marks in the register, 5,922 of them national and 25,416 international registrations. These included 14,711 Estonian trade marks, followed by Germany with 5,291 and the United States with 3,867 trade marks.
The applicants submitted 17 applications for registration of industrial designs, all of which belonged to Estonian applicants, and 16 applications for international registration of industrial designs submitted under the Hague Agreement were received. The number of designs entered into the register was 13, plus 18 international registrations that entered into force.
As of 31 December 2023, there are 762 industrial designs in the Estonian Register of Industrial Designs.
