Inventions databases

One can search for patents that have already been issued as well as patent applications that have been filed, as well as for registered utility models.

Database of the Estonian Patent Applications and Patents

SEARCH 

The Database contains the data of the Estonian national patent applications filed with the Estonian Patent Office since entering into force of the Patents Act on 23 May 1994  and the data of the international patent applications entered intothe national phase in Estonia after accession of the Republic of Estonia to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) on 24 August 1994 as well as the data of the patents granted on the basis of the Patents Act and the PCT. 

The data in the Database concerns only the patent applications published by the Estonian Patent Office pursuant to/in accordance with the Patents Act. The database does not contain the data concerning  the patent applications withdrawn, considered withdrawn or rejected before the publication and it is not allowed to see this data  in the Estonian Patent Office either.

The Database contains the basic bibliographical data of the patent application, the title of the invention and the abstract of the subject matter of the invention both in Estonian and English as well as an original drawing if it exists.The title of the invention both in Estonian and English and the abstract enable to perform a word search. The Database contains also the data concerning the legal status of the patent application or the patent and enables to check the payment of the fees for the year of validity. The database does not contain supplementary protection data, which you can consult in the "Supplementary protection applications for medicinal products and plant protection products" section.

The search is free of charge. 

The Database is informative and does not have legal status. Data in the register and information published in the Estonian Patent Gazette have legal status.  For receiving confirmed written information or confirmed copies of the documents a written application should be submitted to the Estonian Patent Office and a state fee should be paid in accordance with the State Fees Act § 113 Article 3 or § 114 Article 1.

Processing of the patent applications and the granted patents can be followed via the notifications published in the Estonian Patent Gazette and the processing procedure and the dossiers in the Estonian Patent Office. Upon payment of the prescribed state fee the Estonian Patent Office issues confirmed copies of the documents of the processing and registry dossiers. Please turn to the Registry Department of  the Estonian Patent Office to get the certified copies.

Database of the European Patents Validated in Estonia

SEARCH

The database contains data of the European patents validated in Estonia, the European patents valid in Estonia and the European patents lapsed (or revoked) in Estonia.

It is possible to validate the European patents granted on the basis of the European patent application filed since 1 July 2002 (the Republic of Estonia acceded to the European Patent Convention (EPC) on 1 July 2002) with the European Patent Office (EPO) provided that the Republic of Estonia is designated in the European patent.

Search in the database is free of charge. 

The database contains essential data of the European patents validated in Estonia. The database does not contain supplementary protection data, which you can consult in the "Supplementary protection applications for medicinal products and plant protection products" section. The database is informative and does not have legal effect. Data in the register and notifications published in the Estonian Patent Gazette have legal status.

Detailed information of the European patent applications and processing thereof in the EPO is available in the database European Patent Register on the EPO website.

The Estonian Patent Office issues certified copies of the translations of the European patent specifications and certified printouts of the data in the Register. For getting certified copies and printouts please contact the Reception of the Estonian Patent Office.

The database is updated from 4.30 PM to 5 PM every Tuesday and Thursday. Searches made during that time may not be successful.

Database of Utility Models

SEARCH

The database contains the data of utility models registered in the Republic of Estonia to the extent specified in the Utility Models Act.

The numbers of applications contain 10 digits (e.g. U200600066) and the numbers of registrations contain 5 digits (e.g. 00669).

Search in the database is free of charge. 

The database is informative and does not have legal effect. Search results do not ensure the protectability of utility models and are not binding on the Estonian Patent Office in processing the utility models. Data in the register and notifications published in the Estonian Utility Model Gazette have legal status.

For specifying the data and for the release of information or the issue of official extracts from the files of registrations and of their processing or from the Register of Utility Models, please contact the Reception of the Estonian Patent Office. For receiving confirmed written information or confirmed copies of the documents a written application should be submitted to the Estonian Patent Office and a state fee should be paid in accordance with the State Fees Act § 113 Article 3 or § 114 Article 1.

Supplementary protection applications for medicinal products and plant protection products (SPC-s)

The Database contains essential data of supplementary protection applications for medicinal products and plant protection products (SPC-s) registered and valid in the Republic of Estonia.

It is possible to apply for supplementary protection for medicinal products and plant production products for maximum 5 years (Patents Act Chapter VIII1). In case of medicinal products for pediatric use it is possible to extend the term of supplementary protection for 6 months.

The database is updated from 4.30 PM to 5 PM every Thursday.
