Estonian Inventions Database
Searches can be performed across all types of inventions.
- Estonian national patent applications and patents: Contains data from 1994 onwards on national patent applications submitted to the Patent Office, as well as international (PCT) patent applications processed in Estonia and the patents granted based on them. Data is available only for published applications and patents. The database does not contain information on applications that were withdrawn, deemed withdrawn, or rejected before publication, and these are also not accessible at the Patent Office.
- European patents validated in Estonia: Contains data from 1 July 2002 on European patents submitted for validation in Estonia, including valid and expired patents. More detailed information on European patent applications and their proceedings in the EPO can be found in the European Patent Register on the EPO website (opens in a new tab).
- Utility models: Contains data on utility models registered in Estonia.
- Supplementary Protection Certificate (SPC) applications: Contains key information on supplementary protection applications for medicinal and plant protection products valid in Estonia. Additional protection of up to five years can be requested for medicinal and plant protection products with a valid marketing authorization. For medicines used in pediatrics, the protection can be extended by a further six months.
- Translations of claims of filed European patent applications.
The database contains key bibliographic data for each item, the invention title and a summary in both Estonian and English, and the main drawing if available. It also includes data on the legal status of a patent application or granted patent and allows monitoring of annual fee payments for maintaining validity.
The database is informative and has no legal status. Legal status is given to the data in the official register, notices published in the Estonian Patent Gazette, and the Estonian Utility Model Gazette. To obtain certified information and copies of documents from the register, a written request in free format should be submitted to the Patent Office, state fee should be paid in accordance with the State Fees Act § 113 Article 3 or § 114 Article 1.
The progress of patent applications and granted patents can be followed through the notices published in the Estonian Patent Gazette and the Estonian Utility Model Gazette, as well as by reviewing the processing procedure and dossiers at the Patent Office.
The Patent Office issues certified copies of documents from procedural and registry files upon payment of the prescribed state fee. To obtain certified copies, please contact the reception of the Patent Office.
The data is updated on an ongoing basis.
