Why Kratt?
“First, the idea to organize a classical music festival for children and youth was born, and the name came afterwards. There were many name suggestions, but when ‘Kratt’ was first proposed, everyone involved felt that this was exactly the right name,” says Aet Bergmann, co-organizer of the festival, sheding light on the origin of the name.
“We associate this name with music and folklore in two ways. First, the festival is like a kratt — a mythical creature — that gathers young souls for its master, music. Secondly, every child has their own musical kratt that brings them joy, gives them pleasure of playing together, and helps them develop musically.”
Kratt was registered as a trade mark primarily to avoid imitators. “The festival has a fixed format, quality standards, an audience, and its own fans. If someone else organized a festival with the same name, it would mislead the festival’s participants and fans,” emphasizes Bergmann.
