Today, the Estonian Patent Office, in collaboration with Kantar Emor, presents the results of a study on the intellectual property of Estonian companies

09.12.2024 | 12:04

The aim of the study was to identify which companies protect their trade marks, designs and inventions and why, as well as the reasons some choose not to safeguard their intellectual propery. A total of 401 companies were surveyed, half of which owned registered intellectual property.

The study clearly revealed that larger companies, with more than 50 employees, are more proactive in protecting their intellectual property. Ttwo-thirds of those had registered intellectual property. Smaller companies, with up to 50 employees, are more likely to leave their trade marks, designs, and inventions unprotected. The smallest businesses, with up to 10 employees, protect their intellectual property in only 39% of cases. The full report (in Estonian) can be found here.

More detailed insights from the study will soon be available in Estonian on the Patent Office's blog.
