Trade mark HUIK! that was elected as the best in December, belongs to a mixed choir of the same name, and it is protected in the area of music recordings, concerts and music performance.

HUIK! brings together 40 singers from Tallinn and Tartu. The choir was formed in 2009 by graduates of the Old Town Educational College, who sang in the school's chamber choir of and wished to continue making music together after graduation.

"The issue of the name of the choir came up when our first public appearance was coming. There was a vote where HUIK! won, which is actually an acronym for the words "voices reach people's ears,"" explains Kärt Ilja, the choir leader, how they got their trade mark.

It was decided to officially register the name so that it would always be associated with the mixed choir that was born in the old town of Tallinn in 2009. "We encourage other collectives to register their names as trade marks, as this will prevent unpleasant surprises in the future," Ilja advises other creative collectives.
