This time, a record number of high-level ministerial representatives are participating to discuss important topics, renew collaborative relationships, and shape the future of the global intellectual property (IP) ecosystem. Liisa Pakosta, the Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs, is representing Estonia. Other Estonian delegates include Ambassador Riia Salsa-Audiffren from the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Estonia in Geneva, Piret Urb, the CEBS (Central European and Baltic States) coordinator, Janne Andresoo, Director General of the Estonian Patent Office, Cady Kaisa Rivera, Head of the Department of Intellectual Property Law at the Patent Office, and Kärt Nemvalts, Head of the Intellectual Property and Competition Law Division at the Ministry of Justice and Digital Affairs.
In his opening speech, WIPO Director General Daren Tang emphasized that in times of global uncertainty, intellectual property becomes an increasingly important tool for promoting innovation and development.
According to Janne Andresoo, Director General of the Estonian Patent Office, Estonia highly values cooperation with WIPO and supports WIPO's initiatives that promote the smart use of intellectual property, generate economic value, and contribute to national wealth, bringing intellectual property closer to creators around the world. Continued collaboration between WIPO and the Baltic States' knowledge transfer network is essential, as is public sector support for cooperation between universities and businesses in advancing technology transfer. Estonia closely monitors WIPO’s annually published Global Innovation Index at the highest level.
The Estonian delegation is participating in plenary sessions and side events and is meeting with WIPO leadership and delegations from other countries. The event schedule for the 66th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies is available online. Events will also be recorded and can be re-watched online.
