On 15 September 2011 a meeting of the trademark departments of the Patent Offices of the Nordic and Baltic countries took place in Tallinn. The goal of the meeting was to discuss common positions of the Nordic and Baltic States concerning the Study on the Overall Functioning of the European Trade Mark System by the Max Planck Institute. Common positions were worked out and agreements on further cooperation were made at the meeting. The event was arranged by the Estonian Patent Office.
