Filing of Patent Applications Has Become More Active

In the first half of 2008 43 national patent applications (32 applications were filed during the same period last year) and 17 international (PCT) patent applications (11 applications were filed last year) were filed with the Estonian Patent Office. Besides patent applications also 73 national utility model applications (78 applications during the same period in 2007) were filed for protection of the inventions in the first half of 2008. So in the first half of 2008 the Estonian applicants have filed applications for protection of their inventions with the Estonian Patent Office more actively than ever before.

Besides, 489 applications of European patents for validation in Estonia were filed by the European Patent Office (the number of applications was 429 during the same period last year).

Receival of the state fees has increased also. State fees of 17,021 million Estonian kroons (16,935 Estonian kroons during the same period last year) were received for the procedures of the Estonian Patent Office in 2008.
