Baltic States TTO Network Cooperation Agreement was signed

Online Signing Ceremony of the Baltic States TTO Network Cooperation Agreement took place on March 25 at the Estonian University of Life Sciences.

The agreement has three main objectives:

  • to promote knowledge and technology transfer between research and development institutions, companies and the public sector.
  • to share knowledge and information between members and the public;
  • to establish a collaborative relationships with other networks and partners.

Four universities from Estonia (University of Tartu, Tallinn University of Technology, Estonian University of Life Sciences and Tallinn University) are among the 16 members. Mait Klaassen, Rector of Estonian University of Life Sciences, signed the agreement on behalf of Estonian universities.

Märt Kraft, the Estonian Patent Office's Head of Development, expressed the office's willingness to fully support the network and thanked colleagues from WIPO, Latvian and Lithuanian patent offices, and universities whose high commitment and joint contribution have resulted in the development of a regional cooperation network as a result of the pilot project.

The members have begun meeting more frequently since 2016, when WIPO began providing training to employees of the technology transfer units of the Baltic universities. Several cooperative projects have emerged throughout the years, with more to come in the future!
