Revenue and expenditure of the Estonian Patent Office in 2016

3.2 million EUR accrued to the state budget (3.2 in 2015), including fees paid by foreign applicants:

revenue for specific purposes from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in the amount of 0.42 million EUR for the examination of international registrations of trademarks in Estonia (0.56 million EUR in 2015);

1.80 million EUR for the continued validity of European patents in Estonia (1.52 million EUR in 2015).

2.26 million EUR was allocated from the state budget altogether

1.44 million EUR for the operational costs of the Patent Office (1.41 million EUR in 2015);

and 0.90 million EUR as 50% were earmarked from the fees for the European patents to the European Patent Organisation (0.71 million EUR in 2015).

0.94 million EUR net revenue accrued to the state budget for acts performed by the Estonian Patent Office in 2016.
