President of OHIM Mr. António Campinos is visiting Estonia

On 27 October a meeting with the participation of Mr. António Campinos, President of the European Union Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) and Mr. João Negrão, Director International Cooperation and Legal Affairs Department of the OHIM will be held in Estonia.

The aims of the visit are to enforce successful cooperation between the OHIM and the Estonian Patent Office and bilateral review of already existing cooperation agreements.

The importance of legal protection of intellectual property in Estonia will be highlighted at the meeting of the OHIM President with Mr. Urmas Reinsalu, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Estonian and Ms. Kai Härmand, Vice-Chancellor of Law Policy of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Estonia.

OHIM is the European Union agency responsible for managing two important vehicles for the protection of creativity and innovation – the Community trade mark and the registered Community design.

The Republic of Estonia joined the European Union system for protection of trade marks and industrial designs on 1 May 2004. Due to this Community trade marks and designs registered by OHIM automatically became effective in the territory of Estonia.
