The Estonian Patent Office started to translate the eighth edition (currently in force) of the International Patent Classification (IPC) into Estonian in 2006 and completed it in spring 2009. It was a very voluminous and complicated job and it is also a big step forward in the development of the Estonian engineering vocabulary.
The IPC has been translated into the official languages of the WIPO (English, China, Spain, France, Arabic and Russian) as well as into Czech, Dutch, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese and now also into Estonian.
