Cooperation with the EUIPO
On May 1, 2004 the Republic of Estonia acceded to the protection systems of the Community trade marks and designs. The accession brought along automatic enforcement of the Community trade marks and designs registered in the former OHIM on the territory of the Republic of Estonia.
From 23 March 2016 OHIM is called the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
The representatives of the Estonian Patent Office take part in the work of the EUIPO Administrative Board and Budget Committee and in the working groups of examiners.
The Estonian Patent Office takes part in several cooperation and convergence programme projects of the EUIPO. The web tools developed by the EUIPO and the national offices in cooperation with the user associations are available at www.tmdn.org. The goal of the convergence programme is to establish an international registration practice of trade marks, which will be as unitary as possible. In the framework of a bilateral cooperation project information publications are published (in Estonian).
